Programs Overview

Youth Opportunities Unlimited, Inc. (Y.O.U.) offers programs for New Bedford’s youth all year.  In the Fall & Winter months, kids can learn Bicycle Maintenance and Repair, safe and warm inside the Victory Park Warming House.  Also in the early Fall, we offer our Fall Urban Explorers program. During late Winter and early Spring,  Y.O.U. offers the very popular Food For Thought Program, and in Spring, it’s back to the great outdoors in our Spring Urban Explorers program.

Y.O.U.’s, biggest and most popular program runs daily in one-week sessions every summer – the Explore Your Environment (EYE) Summer Program. New Bedford youngsters have the opportunity to bicycle all around the south end peninsula, stopping to visit and explore many exciting sites including Fort Taber. They swim, snorkel, play tennis and basketball, and have fantastic experiences visiting regional working farms as special guests of local farm families.

Several times every year during the spring and fall, Y.O.U., leads Saturday Adventure Trips to exciting venues for city youth. Some popular destinations include:

Cape Cod Canal Bike Path

Copicut Woods

Mass Maritime Academy

Local Farms (hosted by generous farm families)
